Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Shri. D. K. Shivakumar, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, said, “Karnataka has consistently led from the front in the AVGC sector, and we were the first in Asia to introduce a dedicated policy for it in 2016, recognizing the immense potential of the orange economy well before it became a national focus. Bengaluru, India’s Silicon Valley, today stands as a global innovation hub with nearly 875 GCCs, supported by a strong ecosystem and a steady annual output of 1.5 lakh skilled IT professionals and engineers. Our AVGC sector is growing at 25–30% annually, has attracted over ₹2,000 crore in investments, and holds the potential to create 1.5 lakh jobs. The government is fully committed to supporting innovation, R&D, and talent development, while ensuring true speed of businesses beyond single-window clearances. We are focusing on gaming, visual effects, comics, extended reality, and the rapidly growing film industry. By 2028, we aim to train 50,000 students and create 13,000 high-quality jobs. With 6.5 lakh employees being trained in generative AI, we are confident that technology will create new opportunities, just as computers once did. Over the next three days, GAFX 2026 will host 200+ speakers across 100+ sessions, masterclasses, and workshops, with participation from leading global studios. The AVGC Centre of Excellence has executed over 200 projects across domestic and international markets and supported more than 100 startups by providing access to production-ready infrastructure, licensed software, render capacity, and mentorship. With CoE 2.0, Karnataka is expanding this ecosystem beyond Bengaluru into Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, building a distributed and future-ready creative technology network.

From the moment delegates entered the venue, the atmosphere carried the pulse of an Olympiad: teams seated with their country buddies—IIHM students entrusted with their comfort and well-being—setting the tone for hospitality rooted in warmth, care, and connection.

The evening unfolded into a powerful spectacle. An energetic introduction framed YCO as far more than a contest—a global celebration of culinary excellence, cultural identity, and friendship beyond borders. That idea came alive in the most cinematic sequence of the night: the Entry of Countries—a rolling wave of nations, flags, uniforms, and young faces stepping forward as ambassadors of their culinary cultures. It was a defining visual: dozens of countries arriving in Bengaluru not as rivals, but as co-travellers, united by the universal language of food.

As the ceremony progressed, YCO was placed within a larger national narrative—India’s journey of transformation and its accelerating leap into the era of AI and innovation. This segment connected India’s rise as a creator of technology with IIHM’s future-facing leadership in hospitality education, including the spotlight on NamAIste GPT—positioning Bengaluru not only as a host city, but as the natural setting for conversations around innovation, ethics, and human-centric technology.

At the emotional centre of the evening was the arrival of Dr. Suborno Bose, whose address anchored the ceremony’s deeper meaning. Bridging innovation with humanity, he reminded the audience that while the world is changing rapidly, hospitality remains profoundly human.

“You have travelled from across continents, cultures, climates, and cuisines—but tonight, you stand together on one stage, united by a single language: food,” Dr. Bose said.

Addressing student chefs from over 40 countries gathered in Bengaluru for the largest congregation of young chefs in the world, he added, “You are here as culinary ambassadors—carrying the stories, traditions, ingredients, and philosophies of your nations. At its heart, the Young Chef Olympiad is culinary diplomacy in action—a place where borders dissolve, politics disappear, and food builds bridges.”

The global stature of the ceremony was reinforced by the presence and messages of senior leaders. A video address from Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, welcomed the international delegations, followed by the address and felicitation of the Tourism Secretary, Government of Karnataka—underscoring Bengaluru’s role as a gracious host city for international cultural exchange.

Adding gravitas to the evening, Professor David Foskett OBE, Chairperson of the Jury, addressed the gathering, reaffirming YCO’s global credibility and academic rigour. A message from Padma Shri Chef Sanjeev Kapoor further elevated the occasion, reinforcing the Olympiad’s standing as a respected global platform.

The ceremony’s drama extended beyond speeches into rhythm and symbolism. The thunderous Dollu Kunitha, Karnataka’s traditional folk dance, brought local heritage into the global spotlight—reminding every international delegate that Bengaluru was not merely a venue, but a city with a living, breathing cultural identity welcoming the world with pride.

One of the evening’s most meaningful moments followed with the handover of the Culinary Dossier, executed through IIHM students. Presented as culinary diplomacy in action, this symbolic exchange captured the theme of YCO 2026: “Preserving the World’s Global Culinary Heritage through AI.”

“For the first time, we are consciously positioning the participating countries as a living laboratory of global culinary heritage,” Dr. Bose said.

The evening rose toward its peak with the announcement of the Grand Jury, followed by the unveiling of the YCO Trophy—a collective moment of purpose marked by the YCO Anthem and a symbolic “hand on heart” pledge. The ceremony concluded with the YCO Banner and Torch entry and the Oath Taking Ceremony, where contestants, mentors, and judges committed to fairness, integrity, and the spirit of the Olympiad.

As the ceremony concluded, the message was unmistakable: YCO 2026 had not simply begun—it had been inaugurated in Bengaluru with scale, symbolism, and soul. For the international teams, the city became their first lived experience of India—its hospitality ethos, cultural depth, and openness.

ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಮಾನವ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳ ಮಂಡಳಿಯು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಪಿಂಟೋ ಥಾಮಸ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಶನಿವಾರ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಇಂದಿರಾನಗರದ ಮೊದಲ ಹಂತದ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಕುಮ್ ಅಂಧರ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು.

ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಮಾನವ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳ ಮಂಡಳಿಗೆ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಗೊಂಡ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಗುರುತಿನ ಚೀಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಅದರ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ನವೀಕರಿಸಿದ ಗುರುತಿನ ಚೀಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ಇದರ ನಂತರ, ಅಕ್ಕಿ ಮತ್ತು ಗೋಧಿ, ಬಿಸ್ಕತ್ತುಗಳು, ಜವಳಿ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ವಿವಿಧ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಂತೆ ಆಹಾರ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಕುಮ್ ಅಂಧರ ಶಾಲೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಶಾಲೆಯ ಕೆಲವು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು, ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಆಡಳಿತ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಮಾನವ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಪಿಂಟೋ ಥಾಮಸ್, ಪರಿಷತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಜನರಿಗಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಯಾವುದೇ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ದುರುಪಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತ ಜನರ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ದೇಶದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ಅವರು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರು.

ಈ ಕಿಯೋಸ್ಕ್ ಅನ್ನು ಸಿಐಐನ ಮಹಾನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಚಂದ್ರಜಿತ್ ಬ್ಯಾನರ್ಜಿ ಅವರು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ಭಾರತದ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸಚಿವರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದ್ ಜೋಶಿ ಅವರು ಕಿಯೋಸ್ಕ್‌ಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ, ಆಹಾರದ ಸರಳತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪೌಷ್ಟಿಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದರು. ಸ್ಕಿಟ್ಟರ್ಲ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿನ ಭಾರತದ ಡೆಪ್ಯುಟಿ ಅಂಬಾಸೆಡರ್ ಶ್ರೀ ಅನೂಪ್ ಧಿಂಗ್ರಾ ಕೂಡ ಕಿಯೋಸ್ಕ್‌ಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಕಡು ಚಳಿಯ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ಅನೇಕ ದೇಶಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು, ನೀತಿ ನಿರ್ಣಯಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಉದ್ಯಮ ನಾಯಕರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಆಸ್ವಾದಿಸಿದರು.

ಅಕ್ಷಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯ ಕಿಯೋಸ್ಕ್ ಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಗಣ್ಯರು ಶಾಲಾಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಪೌಷ್ಟಿಕ ಬಿಸಿಯೂಟವನ್ನು ನೀಡುವ ಯೋಜನೆಯು ರಸ್ತೆಗಳು, ವಿದ್ಯುತ್, ಮತ್ತು ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಸಂಪರ್ಕವನ್ನು ನೀಡುವಷ್ಟೇ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಸೌಕರ್ಯವಂತಾಗಿ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಒಪ್ಪಿದರು. ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಪೌಷ್ಟಿಕ ಆಹಾರ ದೊರೆತರೆ ಅವರ ಬುದ್ಧಿಶಕ್ತಿ, ಕಲಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಯಿತು. ದಾವೋಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಿಯೂಟ ವಿತರಣೆಯ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಅನ್ನದಾನ’ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾಗಿ ಹಲವರು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದರು. ಅಕ್ಷಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯ ಕಿಯೋಸ್ಕ್ ನ ಬಳಿ ನಡೆದ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳು ಆಹಾರ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಸಹಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜದ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿದವು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಮೂಲಕ “ಯಾವುದೇ ಮಗು ಹಸಿವಿನ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತರಾಗಬಾರದು” ಎಂಬ ಅಕ್ಷಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪೌಷ್ಟಿಕತೆಗೆ ಹೂಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು ದೇಶ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಕ್ಕೂ, ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೂ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಪುನರುಚ್ಛರಿಸಿತು.

ಅಕ್ಷಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯು ಕಳೆದ 25 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಪಿಎಂ ಪೋಶಣ್ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ 16 ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು 3 ಕೇಂದ್ರಾಡಳಿತ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಸುಮಾರು 23 ಲಕ್ಷ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ಊಟ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. 2030ರೊಳಗೆ 30 ಲಕ್ಷ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಆಹಾರ ನೀಡುವುದು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಗುರಿ.
ದಾವೋಸ್‌ನ ಈ ಆಹಾರ ವಿತರಣೆಯ ಸೇವಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ವರ್ಲ್ಡ್ ಫುಡ್ ಮೂವೆಂಟ್ (WFM)ನ ಜೊತೆಗೂಡಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಅಕ್ಷಯ ಪಾತ್ರದ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾದ WFM, ಅಮೇರಿಕಾ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ಪೌಷ್ಟಿಕತೆಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ.

Bengaluru, January 29, 2026: The COMEDK UGET / Uni-GAUGE 2026 entrance examination will be conducted on Saturday, 09 May 2026. This unified national-level test serves as a gateway to undergraduate engineering admissions across 150+ engineering colleges in Karnataka and 30+ reputed private, self-funded and deemed universities across India.

The examination is intended for candidates seeking admission to B.E./B.Tech programs offered by institutions affiliated with the Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association (KUPECA) and Uni-GAUGE member universities.

The computer-based test will be conducted in 200+ cities across India, spanning 400+ test centres. Over 1,40,000 students are expected to appear for the examination. Candidates from across the country are eligible to apply.

During the session, Mrs. Alam shared her remarkable journey of building Mitti Café into one of India’s most impactful social enterprises. Today, Mitti Café operates close to 70 outlets across prestigious locations, including the Supreme Court of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan, major airports, and leading corporate parks, empowering thousands of persons with disabilities through dignified employment and skill development

Taking this vision forward, NRAI Bengaluru announced a dedicated training and placement initiative aimed at enabling member establishments to employ and integrate persons with disabilities within the hospitality sector. Members from NRAI, BHA, BBHA, and WMAB collectively pledged to create more accessible and disability-friendly workplaces.

The evening featured several heartfelt moments, including the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the Mitti Café team, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony celebrating the spirit of inclusion and the invaluable contribution of specially-abled professionals to the food and beverage industry. The celebration concluded with a hosted dinner for the Mitti Café team, receiving warm applause from attendees.
